Power of Attorney

Legal authorization allowing agent or lawyer to act on your behalf in DLD matters

Overview

A power of attorney (POA) is a notarized legal document that grants authority to another person (attorney-in-fact) to sign documents, submit applications and conduct DLD transactions on your behalf. Useful if you're outside UAE or unable to attend in person.

This is general informational content about Dubai property processes. Procedures and requirements change regularly. Consult official DLD sources or licensed real estate professionals for current guidance.

When Is This Used?

Optional but highly recommended if you're an overseas buyer, busy executive, or cannot attend DLD appointments in person. Used for OQOOD signing, NOC collection, title deed registration.

How It Works

1

Identify and appoint trusted lawyer or agent as your representative

2

Prepare power of attorney document specifying scope

3

Get POA notarized (signature certified) at UAE embassy/consulate or by authorized notary

4

Provide original POA to your representative

5

Representative can now sign OQOOD, collect NOC, apply for title deed on your behalf

6

You retain ultimate ownership and can revoke POA at any time

Costs & Fees

AED 500 - 1,500 (lawyer fees for drafting and notarization)

Required Documents

  • Original passport
  • Visa/Residency document
  • POA template (provided by lawyer)
  • Property reference details

Common Pitfalls to Avoid

  • Appointing untrustworthy or non-professional representative
  • Not clearly defining scope (e.g., limited to this property only)
  • Providing power of attorney without having lawyer review it
  • Not keeping a copy of notarized POA for your records
